Summer is almost here...
As I sit here in jeans and a hoodie I cant help but think that soon I will be complaining about how hot it is outside and cranking my AC to full blast. The joy of it getting warmer out is that it means more time to ride! I mean this is Illinois and anyone from here knows we ride in the cold, we ride in the wind, we ride in the rain, we ride in the snow. But we love to ride when its nice! We hop on our bikes to go just about everywhere and any where! When our eyes open and the sun is shining we just about sing!
As much fun as it is riding to work, to the gas station, to grab a move, to get groceries, and for a quick bite to eat, the best thing is to hoping on the bike with friends or even just you and taking off. Destination not necessarily required. The joy of living here in Illinois is that thanks to A.B.A.T.E. we don't have to strap on a helmet to ride but the problem with that is many states surrounding us you have to! It's always a good idea to brush up on the laws of Illinois and any state you may decide to take a trip to or one you may wander through during your travels. The AMA offers a great website to do a quick fact check before you head out. Illinois state laws are listed and a link to each state is a quick click away. It's pretty easy to not think about it as you get ready to hop on and go so check it out now why the weather is not so nice out.
The joys of the new age we live in is that its no longer needed to hop on your bike and hit every dead end road between here and the edge of the world to find those spectacular views and smooth rides. Some one has probably already hit those pot holes and dead ends and mapped out some fabulous routes along the way! Thanks to the internet those routes are only a click away!
